A trip out is normally arranged for when the club starts and usually when the club finishes each season. The first is normally a trip out for a cream tea or sandwiches and for the second we usually go to a nature reserve to see the squirrels and wildlife.
Two events are held annually in which all the other groups in the society combine, one being an open day for the disabled held by the Royal Yacht Club at Fishbourne where members are taken out for a sail in all various types of sea craft. The other is a handicraft exhibition held at The Riverside Centre, Newport, where a competition is held for all various types of crafts including cooking, knitting and painting being just a few to mention.
A Christmas lunch, prepared by the committee, is given free of charge and entertainment and nativity play by the children of Barton School is put on.
Two luncheon events also take place, again where all groups around the Island meet up, one being in spring and the other in autumn.
The annual subscription fee is £4.00 per year and the luncheons subsidised from club funds.
New members and volunteers to drive are always welcome.
